Independent Medical Education Grants
The ViiV Healthcare UK Independent Medical Education (IME) grant programme was initiated in 2015 and has since funded various educational initiatives in the field of HIV.
The aim is to support programmes that address an evidence-based educational need through high-quality, scientific or clinical education. Recipient programmes will develop the knowledge and practice of healthcare professionals to help them enhance patient care or benefit the NHS and maintains patient care.
Organisations requesting funding need to be able to design and deliver high quality, multidisciplinary educational initiatives. Proposed initiatives should clearly define specific, measurable learning objectives that are aligned to healthcare professional practice and aim to improve patient health and well-being.
The Programme invites applications from the following types of organisations:
- Healthcare service provider
- Professional medical or scientific society or association
- Patient group or medical education charity
- Academic institution that trains healthcare professionals
- Not-for-profit medical education company that is an accredited independent provider
Independent medical education providers that have a decision-making role in the regulation of medicines or prescribing policy are not eligible for support. Applications for individual healthcare professionals will not be supported.
Applications will be evaluated based on the value to patient care and benefit to the NHS. The outcome of IME grant applications will be communicated following a Committee decision. The IME Grant Review Committee is made up of ViiV UK members from the Medical and Compliance departments.
Please note that the IME Grant Review Committee reserve the right to make the final decision. Due to the number of requests, there will be no recourse to appeal and we will not enter into any correspondence outside of this process.
Applications are invited once a year. If you would like to apply for an IME grant, please contact a member of the ViiV Healthcare UK Medical team or request a call here. The deadline for 2019 IME grant applications is 15th January 2019.
